On Our Way Home
A collection of photos from our trip back home Sunday. These were taken during the part of the day when I was feeling well. Somewhere on the journey home my health nosedived and I felt like all I wanted to do was sleep. When I did get home I curled up and passed out for a solid 30 minutes. From there we all got sick.

MSU
A slight interruption from the Jack-centric nature of this blog to document a few of the sights and such from this past Saturday's Michigan State/Notre Dame football game. The last one I attended was the famous Frankenstein rain game from 2006 where State choked and lost a substantial lead in the pouring rain. After that game I lost my voice for a week due to hollering so much. This week I was sick but I did manage to see a Spartan Victory. The first I can remember seeing in some time.
I hate to assume, as you know what they say, but I have to think that this is a Notre Dame fan.
The view from our seats. Dad stopped his Stadium Club seats that I suggested he get so very long ago, opting instead for two seats that didn't break the bank. I have to say that I prefer seeing the action from these seats. You can't see as much of the team as you could from the old seats but that is really a small thing to miss.
A personal favorite, the MSC Tower. Can't explain it. Just dig it.
Me.
Me. At some point anyways.
Charlie Weis.
Charlie Weis interviewed by the ESPN sideline reporter. Erin Andrews perhaps?
Here is the ESPN reporter with the stone faced MSU coach, Mike D'Antonio.
This is Lord Stanley's Cup with the MSU Hockey Team. This was nice for me as the cup was in Traverse City over Labor Day weekend but I didn't want to pony up 250 clams to get my pic with it. This is just as good to me.
A play.
The score at the time. The game wasn't terribly exciting, but sometimes football games aren't. This one didn't drag until one point late in the third when it took ten minutes to play three minutes.
The Spartan Ring of Honor/Fame/Glory. The first name we see actually sits in the seats in front of Dad. Small world.

The game was a designated 'White Out' which meant that everyone was to wear white. I, as you have seen, wore Green but it didn't matter. In shots you can see just how everyone was decked out in White. It was an interesting effect.
The Notre Dame band performed the music of Bon Jovi(!~) at the Half. This was my reaction.
It made me want to Runaway.
As much as the game was fun, to me this was a bit of a highlight. The man on the screen is UFC Light Heavyweight fighter Rashad Evans. Mr.Evans lives in Lansing, was on the MSU Wrestling team and continues to train in Lansing/East Lansing. Two weeks prior to this game Rashad Evans knocked the white off of Chuck 'The Iceman' Liddell, the face of the UFC. It was an amazing knockout, and a huge upset. If you want to see this great shot, click this link.
So anyways I snapped a few shots of Rashad and his kid, I have to say it must have been pretty cool to get that kid of ovation at such a big game with your son there to see.
This is Rashad in the end zone, wearing a Javon Ringer jersey.
Last note here about Rashad Evans. I watched the hype special for his fight and they followed him around Lansing/MSU getting ready. They showed him walking across the street from Sparrow Hospital (where I have some history) and talking about his time as a security guard there. Something about that fact struck me but at the same time it made me like Evans a little more.
With one minute to go we split, having seen the last Ringer-powered touchdown after his longest run from scrimmage of the day. Ringer finished with 202 yards on the ground and the Spartans won 23-7. As I stood by the car I took this photo of the MSC tower, the light was perfect.
And then I took this pic of the stadium. Not as great as the tower but it always feels nice to leave the Stadium feeling happy rather than disgusted with the team.
