Comfort Suites of Houghton Lake

A few assorted pics of our initial time spent in Houghton Lake.
It was pretty banal, trying to adhere to the regular routines while listening to the kids from this birthday party or wherever run up and down the halls.
Otherwise it was a very nice place, with nice, classy decor, high ceilings and tons of pillows.

Not my best portrait.
Jack investigates the room.

The appeal of the hotel (we called Mom from the road and asked her to search for a place with a pool and, more importantly, a vacancy) was there was a water park at the opposite end of the place. I didn't go but Debbie and Jack did,  and in this photo they are just back from it.

For dinner we ordered in, from the in-house eatery 'Blue Bayou'. They had no liquor license, not that it mattered.
We ordered buttered noodles for Jack and a pizza and salad.
The food was fine and the hotel did have milk on hand for bottles for Jack.
He went to sleep much like he does at home or when we are in East Lansing, buried in the crook of my armpit.
It was the first time he slept in a queen sized bed and he must have been beat tired as he barely moved all night.

Here we have a photo of breakfast on Sunday. Jack sat up in bed at 5am, I got him back to sleep and he was out for about another hour.
With the wind howling outside, gusts of wind that made the hotel sound like a banshee. It was something else.
As we got everything ready I went outside to start up the car and get it warmed up. It was a wise move.
The winds were so crazy that they knocked over Santa.
Once I had repacked the car and right before I went to get Jack out of the room and into the car I walked into the breakfast area/lounge area with a groovy fireplace and a nice couch to take a look around. I noticed this. Better Batter. The irony is not lost on me.
Now if you are a regular visitor to this blog (there are at least five of you) you will have seen a post where I goof on my Dad (I did so on the radio as well) about his can of spray pancakes.
The name of the brand? Better Batter.
With my jaw wide open I snapped this pic. I take back everything I said!
Father and son, waiting for Mom and snapping a quick pic before a windy and blizzardy ride from Houghton Lake to Traverse City.

The one of Jack at his sister's crib is worthy of a frame! how cute.

I agree with Melissa, I just think about the experiments you ran on me when I was in that same position!

Melissa is right. The photo should be framed. It captures Jack's love and devotion to his sister, Sophia. How precious!
