Suttons Bay

Last year at this time Debbie alerted me to a 'smart' toy store, Enerdyne, in Suttons Bay. Every year they bring Reindeer for kids of all ages to see. We made it up there with a very young Jack last year (Click Here) and it was a nice time.
This year we planned on heading up there. The big, nasty snows had quieted down by Sunday and Debbie's parents arrived safe after a night snowed in the scenic city of Kalkaska.
So we were getting ready and I was doing stuff outside. When I walk in, Jack is sacked out in Maureen's lap. OK. Let him sleep. Debbie then took a nap of her own.
Everyone woke up at about 3.l5. The Reindeer were there until Four. We got on the road at 3.30.
We arrived at 3.55, give or take.
On the way I misheard Debbie's wishes, which were to be dropped off. As we pulled up we took a look and saw that the Reindeer were still in the Paddock!
Assuming that there was plenty of time I parked and we rushed down to see this scene.
Caged!
Much like Maxwell Smart we missed it by that much!

Much confusion followed on my part. I thought the store was closed, walked back to the car. No Debbie. She showed up, the store was still open, so we went inside and looked around. Jack loved some of the stuff in there. After a few minutes in the store we made our exit, walking back up to the car where we snapped some pics.

I gotta say, as the photographer, that I like these shots of Debbie and Jack due to the subjects and, just as importantly, the background setting.

Off the main drag in Suttons Bay is this incredibly wacky house. It looks like a Japanese feudal type of mansion really. It looks super groovy all year round. In the early spring surrounded in green, lush in the summer and with theleaves in the Fall it looks amazing. Hadn't really seen it in Winter surrounded in snow.
Look at the photos, it looks tremendous! The only drawback was the 'Another Democrat for McCain' bumper sticker on their mailbox.

We got Jack a tattoo. Thought he wouldn't mind. What does it say? My Mom is taller than your Mom!
Madrigals(?) on a side street. I suppose it was like being in the time of Dickens, denizens of the town standing in the snow around a barrell with black smoke billowing out of it. We didn't stop and probably should have...
I call this photo, Babymama in Profile.
